IRS Reminds Taxpayers of Installment Agreement On-line Options

By Vince Nardone, Tax Attorney, Columbus Ohio | Email Me

On February 18, 2009, the Internal Revenue Service issued a notice reminding taxpayers of their on-line options for installment agreements.  I have found, however, that this service is not very user friendly and many times the Internal Revenue Service ultimately requires you to mail in information.  I believe the more efficient way to handle the installment agreement process is to either: (i) have the case transferred to the local office where the taxpayer resides or (ii) contact the Internal Revenue Service by telephone and actually speak to a person.

See the attached notice.
